NAGA CITY --- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Naga City government have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the conduct of registration and enrolment operations regarding the implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

Republic Act No. 11055, otherwise known as the PhilSys Act, aims to establish a national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens in the country.

LGU Naga, like other local government units in the country, will take part in the implementation of the national identification system by way of providing the PSA with vital information on the conditions peculiar within its jurisdictions and assistance in mobilizing its constituents to participate actively in the registration.

The accord, which was signed on Oct. 29, this year, shall cover collaboration of the PSA and LGU Naga in the registration process including the establishment of registration centers with the city government’s jurisdiction.

The registration process consists of pre-registration and registration proper. In pre-registration, which started already last Oct. 12, PSA has been visiting homes to collect personal information.

The registration proper, which will begin on Nov. 25, this year, is the process whereby the registrant will personally go to the designed registration center for the presentation of the required supporting documents, validation of their demographic data, and the collection of their biometric.
