MNWD prepares for World Water Day
By Czarina C. Imperial NAGA CITY --- Chairman Jorge T. Palma of the Metro Naga Water District called for a meeting of partner agencies and stakeholders for the conservation of Mt. Isarog Natural Park (MINP) as a watershed for the province of Camarines Sur to brainstorm on the forthcoming celebration of World Water Day this March 22. More than 30 representatives from LGUs, academe, agencies, and water utilities in Camarines Sur attended the meeting at the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) Multi-Purpose Hall which was presided by Chairman Palma himself. The theme of the celebration this year is “Water and Wastewater.” The main activity scheduled by MNWD is the three-day exhibit at the SM City event center, from March 20-22, 2017, whereby the Chairman enjoined respective representations to provide exhibit materials, presentations, and other IEC materials depicting water, wastewater, and the environment. The exhibit will feature the art works of students from various schools surrounding the MINP as part of the MNWD’s public awareness campaign to drum up support to rehabilitate and conserve the MINP watershed during the poster making, photowalk, and video making contests held last year. Chairman Palma asked for support to ensure the success of the coming event and gave a report on the status of the MNWD watershed and its on-going maintenance activities. On an encouraging tone, Chairman Palma requested for firm action plans as commitment to the project of conserving and sustaining the MINP as a watershed.
