Isarog Garden Society fetes 38th anniversary



NAGA CITY --- The Naga City Ecology Park in Bgy. San Felipe here will be opened free to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 20, 2017 this Saturday. This was announced retired DA Regional Director Fe D. Laysa, president of the Isarog Garden Society Foundation (IGSF), as the organization celebrates its 38th charter anniversary on the same day. The IGSF develops and manages the Naga City EcoPark, thru a memorandum of agreement with the City government of Naga that then City Mayor Jesse M. Robredo initiated. Lilibeth U. Gusayko, overall chair of the anniversary celebration, said there will be a plant and food sale at the EcoPark, venue of the celebration. Various games with prizes will also be opened to the public. For early comers, free packs of assorted vegetable seeds and planting materials will be distributed free, courtesy of the Department of of Agriculture. Naga City Mayor John Bongat, along with members of the Sangguniang Panglunsod, will lead the guests during the anniversary program that will start with a Liturgical Mass. Tourism Director Maria ‘Nini’ Ravanilla will give a talk on EcoTourism. There will also be technical seminars to be held in the afternoon. Rey Pimentel, a plant breeder, will speak on the various endemic ornamental plants of economic value. This year’s anniversary theme is “Nature is our Treasure.”
