IN VIOLATION OF GSIS LAW: Ombudsman indicts Bulusan mayor, et al
By Juan Escandor Jr. NAGA CITY--- For violating the Government Service Insurance (GSIS) Act of 1997, the Ombudsman indicted the mayor, treasurer, accountant and budget officer of Bulusan town in Sorsogon province. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales found Bulusan Mayor Michael Guysayko, budget officer Marieta Negrite, treasurer Jasmin Garcia and accountant Ramon Belleza to had failed, refused or delayed the payment of remittances to the GSIS amounting to P200,000 per month from July to Dec. 2010 and April to July 2011. The GSIS Act of 1997 mandates that premium contributions of government employees be remitted to the GSIS within 10 days of the following month. With the indictment of Guysayko et al, the Ombudsman recommended the filing of criminal raps at the Sandigan with a bail of P100,000 each.
