Arejolas grateful to Migz
With your kind permission, the descendants of the late General Ludovico Arejola, through the undersigned nephew of the General, wish to manifest through your distinguished paper their heartfelt and undying gratitude to Governor Migz Villafuerte and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur for going out of their way to bestow a long overdue recognition and tribute to an unsung wartime hero after almost a hundred years from his passing. General Ludovico Arejola, a Nagueño, with his poorly-armed militia, were able to hold at bay the invading better-armed American military forces in the years 1899-1900 of the Philippine-American war in almost a year of fighting in Ambos Camarines (Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte) by sheer tenacity and fervor in defense of our then newly-won independence from the Spanish conquistadores. General Arejola’s wartime sabre; and scabbard together with his war correspondence to his men in the field can be found at the school Museum of the University of Nueva Caceres in the City of Naga. Again our earnest gratitude to Governor Migz Villafuerte and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur for giving due honor to an unsung wartime hero of the past. Very truly yours, Ramon A. Arejola (Judge, retired) Nephew of General Ludovico Arejola
