National Teachers Day confab set in Albay


By Connie Destura LEGAZPI CITY --- The Department of Education (DepEd) regional office for Bicol announced Thursday last week that over 5,000 teachers from all over the country are expected to visit the city of fun and adventure (Legazpi) in the province of Albay this coming October as the host region of the yearly National Teachers Day celebration, a DepEd top official said the other day. DepEd Regional Director Ramon Fiel Abcede disclosed that DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones personally chose Bicol to host the event on October 5 this year as part of the celebration of World Teacher’s Day. “Key persons from the DepEd and other education stakeholders will grace the event, well-known artists and performers from Metro Manila are considered to be invited to enterian the teachers, Adcede said. Deped External Partnership Director Margarita Ballesteros said the celebration will highlight the greatness of the most inspiring teachers of the country. She explained that aside from showing gratitude to all the teachers for the sacrifices and efforts that they have made to educate the youth, it is also important for the department to make them feel appreciated and happy. Meanwhile, Legazpi Mayor Noel Rosal expressed his excitement in hosting the national event and commits full support for the success of the event. The celebration for this year is anchored on the theme” Gurong Pilipino, Ka-akbay sa Progreso.”
