Prayer rally held in Albay

October 12, 2017

Legazpi Bishop Joel Baylon called for a Stop the Killings - Start the Healing Prayer-Rally today, October 13, Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. This prayer-rally seeks to raise consciousness about our shared response to stop the killings and start the healing; gather in prayer as [a] communion of communities in solidarity with [the] families of victims of killings and violence; and [a] call to action demanding greater accountability and transparency from [the] government.

The prayer-rally started at 3:00 PM in designated gathering points, followed by a procession towards the Albay Cathedral in the Second Vicariate, and to the Christ the King Plaza in Tabaco Parish in the First Vicariate. The Third Vicariate Clergy decided to hold a district-wide motorcade and join the prayer-rally at the Albay Cathedral.

In Legazpi City, there [were] five gathering points: Quezon Avenue (in front of LCC Mall), Bicol University Main Campus, DWCL North Campus, Our Lady of Fatima Church, and Brgy. Taysan (near Oriental Hotel). In Tabaco City, participants first gathered inside the St. Gregory the Great Seminary compound.

A concelebrated mass was held at 5:00 PM with Legazpi Bishop Joel Baylon presiding at the Albay Cathedral, and Legazpi Auxiliary Bishop Lucilo Quiambao at the Tabaco Church. Afterwards, a candle-lighting ceremony with speeches and testimonies [was observed]. -Diocese of Legazpi Fb page
