Riding in tandem robbers victimize 4 ATV riding tourists in Mt. Mayon

Arguelles LEGAZPI CITY --- While everyone was busy paying their respects to their loved ones in various cemeteries here for All Saints’ Day last Wednesday, Nov. 1, robbers riding a motorcycle in tandem here took advantage of the situation by victimizing at least four Manila-based tourists while board their All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) touring the scenic surroundings of Mount Mayon in Barangay Mabinit in this city, the police reported. The victims were identified as Libbylin Barra, 49, single, sisters Ma. Rhea (37) and Ma. Rhachel (24) Cayabyab, both single, all from Metro Manila, and Katrina Barra, 24, single of Barangay Buraguis, this city. Police Chief Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, PNP Bicol spokesperson, said the incident took place at around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday when the ATV-riding tourists, including their two guides, were flagged down by two motorcycle-riding robbers who were armed with a handgun and a knife. She said the attack happened while victims were negotiating a trail on their way back to Barangay Pawa after touring the Lava wall in Barangay Mabinit at the shoulder of Mt. Mayon. The robbers carted away their personal belongings, including cell phones, ATM cards, credit cards and cash amounting to P5,000. The police report said that one of the victims was able to take pictures of the suspects who were clad in camouflage jackets and shorts pants.
