First Liturgical Music Conference held
NAGA CITY - More than 240 liturgical music ministers coming from different parishes, schools, and institutions within the Archdiocese of Caceres attended the Conference and Workshops on Liturgical Music, organized and held by the Archdiocesan Commission on Liturgical Music (ComLitMus) last May 19, this year, at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary, with the theme “Mag-awit asin Maglingkod sa Kagurangnan” (“Sing and Serve the Lord”). The said event began in the morning with two plenary talks given by Rev. Fr. Xavier R. Amoroso, the Director of ComLitMus. He focused on the topics “Music in Sacred Liturgy” and “The Ministry on Liturgical Music” which were followed by workshops in the afternoon. The big group was divided into five worshop-groups which were facilitated by the following: Mr. Roland Raymond Roldan (voice techniques for tenors and basses), Mrs. Mar Jeannelle Bihag-Roldan (voice techniques for sopranos and altos), Rev. Jed Anthony Peña (keyboard accompaniment), Mr. Leo Francis Barbonio (guitar accompaniment), and Ms. Gielyn Corporal (solfeggio/notereading). After the simultaneous workshops, a Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Amoroso. He emphasized in his homily the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church and in the lives of all liturgical music ministers.
