Camarines Sur --- With the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution through Management and Engagement ME,” the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur will celebrate the World Environment Month on June 29 to July 1, 2018 at the Provincial Capitol Complex, Pili, Camarines Sur. The event aims to spread awareness on environmental problems and promote environmental protection by gathering over 230 youth members.

A total of 200 students from high schools and colleges across the province and 36 presidents from all chapters of the El Verde Youth for Climate Action, a province-organized youth environmental organization, will participate in the event.

A waste-recycling contest and an extemporaneous speaking contest with the theme, “Youth Speaks for the Environment,” will be conducted. Participants will also compete in the Eco Amazing Race where five challenges are stationed in different areas across the capitol complex.

The provincial government will also conduct poster-making and creative writing contests on various environmental issues. The Environmental Quiz Bee for both the High School and College division will also be held on the same date at the Convention Center.

Winners from all contests will be granted with scholarships by the provincial government. First placers will receive 100% scholarship grants, 2nd placers will receive 70% scholarship grants, and third placers will receive 50% scholarship grants.

The celebration will be culminated with a symposium and exhibit of the posters and essays gathered from the contests at the Convention Center.
