Songwriters now have a chance to pen an iconic anthem promoting the unity of Bikolanos in fighting poverty in the region. With the theme “Fight Poverty! We are one, we are strong,” the competition is organized by Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal Foundation – Bikol, or CCMF-Bikol, a non-government organization for poverty alleviation.
According to Fr. Wilmer S. Tria, CCMF-Bikol Chief Executive Officer, the competition is an invitation to songwriters to inspire the public and foment a commitment to social development. “Our may be one of the poorest region in the country, but hope is not lost. In fact, we see pockets of progress, but we have to consolidate our efforts,” Tria adds.
Amateur and professional songwriters are welcome to send their entries which must be “upbeat, singable and danceable.” At three to four minutes, including intro and extro, the entries must be in English, or a combination of English and Bikol or a combination of English and Filipino. The winning entry will be dubbed as the “CCMF-Bikol Anthem.”
The Grand Prize will receive Php 50,000.00; second prize, PhP 25,000.00 and third prize is Php 15,000.00. Non-winners in the grand finals will receive Php 5,000.00 each.
Entries must be received by CCMF-Bikol on or before August 25, 2018 at 12:00noon. Results of the pre-qualifying screening will be announced on August 30. Qualifiers will advance to the semi-finals on September 11. Top five semi-finalists will receive Php 5,000.00 each and will advance to the Grand Finals on December 19. Live song interpretation will be presented during the semi-finals and grand finals.
