Legazpi PNP, COMELEC to conduct covenant signing for clean election
LEGAZPI CITY --- The Legazpi City Police together with the Commission on Election (COMELEC) will spearhead a peace covenant signing for local candidates here for the May polls.
PNP Legazpi Acting Police Chief, Police Superintendent Aldwin Gamboa in a phone interview on Friday said the activity is part of the advocacy for safe, peaceful, clean and honest election. “We are expecting local candidates will pledge for the conduct of peaceful election in the city”, Samboa said. The covenant signing will be held on February 16, Saturday at 4:00 in the afternoon with a holy mass at the Good Shepherd Chapel in Albay Cathedral to be followed by the program at Penaranda Park in this city. Gamboa added that with the activity will give voters of Legazpi an assurance that the candidates here are pro-peace election. “We are expecting at least 300 participants for the said event, from the candidates we have 2 mayors, 14 councillors and 1 vice-mayor, Mayor Noel Rosal and most of them confirmed their participation in the said event”, Gamboa added. Lawyer Brian Baleda, Legazpi City Police Advisory Chairman said they expected multi-sectoral support for clean election. Meanwhile Gamboa added that since the start of election period, no case recorded for COMELEC Gun-ban and other resolution for the city. “The people here are very supportive since gun owners with expired license turned-over their weapons for security and safety of the public.”
