LGU Pasacao launches 1st Turismo Pasaqueño competition
PASACAO, Camarines Sur --- For Pasacao Mayor Niño Tayco, boosting this municipality’s tourism is not just a show-off of idyllic and fine beaches but also a showcase of a clean and green Pasacao.
This paved the way for the launching of the 1st ever Turismo Pasaqueño Clean and Green Beautification Project spearheaded by no less than LGU Pasacao thru its Tourism Office.
Edwin Raymond “Ninoy” Reyes, former ABS-CBN Producer and Segment Writer, now Pasacao’s tourism consultant said the competition endeavors to promote environmental awareness among the town’s constituents. It wishes to enjoin not just the tourists but also the residents of the municipality to empower and engage barangay government units to maintain the brand and image of Pasacao as the undisputed Summer Capital of Camarines Sur.
“We want to promote the value of cleanliness, most specifically of those barangays along the seashores and coastlines of Pasacao. We have a lot of beach resorts here and we intend to keep them clean, without a trace of waste that might harm our seas and the marine life that dwells in these bodies of water,” Reyes added.
The competition is open to barangays where most beach resorts are located. It includes Barangays Bahay, Balogo, Caranan, Odicon, Quitang, San Cerilo, Sta. Rosa Del Norte and Sta. Rosa Del Sur.
Barangay officials and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials will serve as coordinators of the competition. Criteria for judging include cleanliness and orderliness of the brgy (35 %) which will entail the maintenance of the display and beautification of the brgy during the entire duration of the competition; creativity for 30 percent– which can be showcased thru the use of plants, recyclable and indigenous materials; 25 % for over-all attractiveness and 10 % for the integration of Pasacao’s culture and heritage – a total of 100 percent.
Competing brgys are expected to set up decorations along the highway from March 15 to May 5. Winners will receive a total amount of Php55,000.00 ; P10,000.00 for the 3rd placer, Php15,000.00 for the 2nd placer and Php30,000.00 for the grand prize winner.
