NAGA CITY --- Inspired by the desire to provide a conducive environment for students when they return to their classrooms this June, the Department of Education (DepEd) Naga City Schools Division Office led last May 16 the 2019 Brigada Eskwela kick-off ceremony at Balatas Elementary School, here.

DepEd Naga City Schools Division Superintendent William E. Gando in his message challenged the teachers to pursue their dreams of creating a welcoming ambiance for their students and sustain the momentum of learning through their lectures.

“Walang imposible walang di pwedeng mangyari, walang di pwedeng ma-achieve kung ang laman ng ating isip at puso ay yung magandang bagay na gusto nating makamit.  Kailangan nating maging maparaan at malikhain,” Gando said in vernacular.

Gando said Brigada Eskwela also promotes camaraderie, cooperation and volunteerism, which is the very essence why Brigada is being conducted every year in preparation for the school opening.

“I have chosen Balatas Elementary School as the venue for our kick-off activity this year because I want our teachers and stakeholders to see the improvements here and witness how Balatas ES has transformed itself into a favorable place for learning and for them to be inspired to emulate this practice, and a challenge to surpass this achievement,” Gando dared.

Balatas ES was awarded as Champion during the 2018 Brigada Eskwela as Best Implementing School- Medium Category.

Mayor John Bongat who graced the occasion emphasized the importance of the stakeholders’ strong support and participation to realize the “collective quest for quality primary and secondary education for all.”

During the same occasion, all Brigada Eskwela’s partners and stakeholders were duly recognized, including the Philippine Information Agency-Camarines Sur provincial office for its continuing support to the activity.

Brigada Eskwela, also dubbed as DepEd’s National Maintenance Week, endeavors to bring together all educational stakeholders who are willing to share their time, resources, and commitment  in ensuring that the school’s facilities are safe and ready for the students on their first day in school and onwards.

Brigada Eskwela 2019 commenced on May 20 and will wrap up on Saturday, May 25.
