CHR to investigate killing of Masbate town vice mayor

LEGAZPI CITY--- The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) regional office here will help authorities in the ongoing investigation on the killing of Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson III of Batuan, Masbate in Sampaloc, Manila on Wednesday.

Lawyer Arlene Alangco, CHR regional director, on Thursday, condemned the killing and condoled with the family of the slain vice mayor.

“We commit to working with the law enforcement agencies as we conduct our own investigation in our area of jurisdiction. We sympathize and send our condolences to the bereaved family of Vice Mayor Yuson and pray for the resolution of the case,” she said in a statement.

Alanco urged witnesses to provide any information vital to the case investigation being conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Yuson, along with two companions, was having breakfast in front of a house when car-riding assassins shot and killed the vice mayor and wounded two of his companions.
