Fun Run, Info Caravan Kick-off Consumer Welfare Month
LEGAZPI CITY --- The Department of Trade and Industry in the province of Albay has called on the public to take part in this year’s Consumer Welfare Month Celebration highlighted by the Consumer Fun Run and Information Caravan.
DTI Albay Provincial Director Leah A. Pagao said more than 2,000 participants from various sectors in Albay joined the Consumer Fun Run 2019 which was conducted on October 12, 2019 in this city.
“Some 2,290 participants registered in this year’s fun run. That’s more than the last year’s number of participants,” Pagao said.
The activity started at 5:00AM with the registration and short program which was followed by a warm-up Zumba dance before the holding of a fun run that began at 6:30AM.
“Registration was free and the participants were only required to wear white t-shirts. To add color to the activity, the participants were encouraged to paint their faces before the run,” Pagao said.
Winners in 5-kilometer and 3-kilometer categories received P2,000. Special awards were also given to the 70-year old participant as the oldest runner and to the 6-year old child being the youngest among them.
The kick-off activity was also highlighted by the information caravan, where the DTI and other member-agencies of the Albay Consumer Network like the Philippine Information Agency-Albay.
“During the activity, DTI along with other government agencies presented and distributed materials that promote green practices and help create awareness on consumption of goods and services that have minimal impact on the environment,” Pagao said.
