Bicol Central Station to beef up security measures

NAGA CITY---Despite the comfort and convenience being experienced by the passengers at the Bicol Central Station in Brgy. Triangulo, here, the Committee on Transport and Public Safety of the Sangguniang Panlungsod wants the bus depot’s security system be improved further.

City Councilor Lito del Rosario, the committee chairman, said that the management of the terminal needs to enhance the facility’s security measures.

He said that with BCS large revenue contribution, there could be no reason for the city government to defer any plan to improve the bus terminal’s security system. “We see the importance of the matter since we are anticipating a great influx of passengers with the forthcoming Christmas season,” says del Rosario.

He said that BCS General Manager Roderick Reforsado will be invited next week at the Sanggunian session to provide insights and ideas regarding the matter.

Del Rosario said that the facility’s management can use detectors or x-ray machines or even keep a K-9 unit to be able to thoroughly check the individuals and belongings coming in and out of the terminal.

“But the principle in the security management is: you always have to think how to improve existing conditions. We should always look for improvements. We don’t like to act like alarmists but it’s better to upgrade security systems” he said.

When asked about the amount of revenue that the terminal have gained for five years, the councilor answered that he doesn’t have the data yet.
