Albay earmarks P1.5 million for Mindanao survivors

MINDANAO earthquake survivors

LEGAZPI CITY---The provincial government of Albay allotted P1.5 million as financial assistance for the earthquake victims living in three hardly affected areas of Mindanao region, Cedric Daep, chief of Albay Public Safety Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) said.

The cash aid, which will equally be divided into 3 (P500,000 each), will be sent to the LGUs in Davao City, Davao Del Sur, and North Cotabato.

When asked if the province will send a humanitarian team to the hardly stricken areas in Mindanao, Daep said that Albay governor Al Francis Bichara has opted to offer cash assistance instead of sending humanitarian team as Albay is also readying for incoming typhoons which are expected to come before the end of 2019.

The check will be handing over to the three local government units by the representative of the provincial social welfare office and a board member of Albay, Daep said during the press conference held at Albay Provincial Disaster Management Office here.
