LEGAZPI CITY --- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Bicol Region through its Single Entry Approach (SEnA) program, has released to 18 workers their respective separation pays after they were terminated by a manpower service firm in Masbate.

In an interview on Tuesday, Johana Vi Gasga, DOLE-5 spokesperson, said a total of P180,000 in monetary claims was given to the former employees for their services rendered to the company.

“With the acquired skill in voluntary conciliation and mediation, the Single Entry Approach Desk Officer (SEADO) was able to secure the most favorable agreement to both parties,” she added.

DOLE-5 regional director Joel M. Gonzales lauded the cooperation of both parties that led to the immediate settlement and payment of monetary claims.

“It is part of our duty to settle complaints through SEnA to prevent them from ripening into full-blown disputes or labor cases,” he added.

Gonzales also encouraged other distressed workers to file a complaint through SEnA to facilitate an amicable settlement.

“We would also like to remind our employers to observe compliance with labor standards to avoid disputes and further strengthen rapport with their workers. Never hesitate to seek assistance from us, so we can give you pieces of advice, or offer solutions and alternatives to the problems,” he added.

Yacky Genova, one of the 18 workers, thanked DOLE for the immediate settlement of their labor complaints and release of the monetary claims due them.

“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE sa pagtulong sa amin. Buo po ang aming tiwala na kami ay mabibigyan ng nararapat sa amin sa tulong po ng inyong ahensya, (Thank you, DOLE for the help. We fully trust your agency that we will be given what is due us),” said Genova, who is a father of five.

SEnA is an administrative approach that provides speedy, impartial, inexpensive, and accessible settlement procedure for all issues or complaints arising from employer-employee relations. (PNA)
