51 passengers, crew of troubled motorboat in Masbate rescued

AROROY, Masbate – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday rescued 43 passengers and eight crew members of a motorboat that encountered engine trouble off Masbate waters.

Personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) in Aroroy, Masbate assisted in the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation.

According to the PCG report, the motorboat departed from Masbate fish port, Masbate City going to Claveria town when an engine problem occurred while the vessel was along the waters of Baleno and Aroroy.

While troubleshooting the engine, one of the crew members noticed that the automotive oil was mixed with seawater, resulting in engine failure.

The passengers and crew members, who were all in good physical condition, were brought to Aroroy Port in Masbate for further assistance and further investigation.
