LIBMANAN, Camarines Sur---A farmer in Barangay Potot here was hacked in the neck by his drunken nephew recenty.
The victim, identified by police authorities as Daniel P. Velardo, 56, had an argument with the suspect Joel Curpos, 46, in the afternoon of November 24.
In a phone interview, Police Staff Sergeant Rose Organis, spokesperson of the Libmanan Municipal Police Station, said that a misunderstanding between the two resulted in a heated argument.
The policewoman told Bicol Mail that during the argument, the suspect, who managed to grab a bolo nearby, slashed the victim’s neck and back, causing the patrolling barangay tanods to apprehend him.
She said that the victim, after the incident, was rushed to the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City for medical treatment.
She disclosed that the suspect, who is now under the custody of Libmanan-MPS, will face a frustrated murder case filed by the victim’s family to Regional Trial Court, 5th Judicial Region, Branch 62 in Naga City.
