BECA member denies probe on 2 partylist reps salaries

NAGA CITY---A member of Bicol Electric Cooperatives Association Inc. (BECA) has recently denied that their group has requested a probe on the alleged double compensation enjoyed by two members of partylists representing electric cooperatives in the country.

Emelita Candia, OIC general manager of Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative (CASURECO II) and member of BECA, told Bicol Mail that they are not aware of the issue involving Rep. Sergio Dagooc of the Association of Philippine Electric Cooperatives (APEC) Partylist and Rep. Presly De Jesus of the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) Partylist.

Dagooc and De Jesus allegedly sit as officials of electric cooperatives in Siargao, Dinagat Island, and Isabela while working as partylist representatives, which observers claimed is in violation of the regulation of National Electrification Administration (NEA) that says all officials and employees of electric cooperatives must resign once they are elected in any political position.

Candia added that the issue was not discussed in a meeting conducted by BECA, where Bicol Mail reporters were not allowed to get the feedback of the two partylist members.

She said they don’t have enough knowledge concerning the issue revealed by some BECA members although she emphasized that they will be transparent in any issue.

Last November 2019, in a BECA program held in this city nearby city hall, reporters of this paper were shooed away by a certain PO2 Magistrado upon the orders of certain BECA officials.

Reporters insisted to interview Dagooc and De Jesus but the police personnel denied access to the partylist representatives. (DPA and PDP)
