Sn Fernando fishermen receive fiberglass boats, gears
Franco was just one of the 29 fishermen in San Fernando who received fiberglass boats and fishing gears from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through the CamSur Public Employment Services Office (PESO) last January 11, 2020.
Each of the fishermen received a fiberglass boat and fishing gears, which include two bundles of nylon netting, 2 kilograms of monofilament, two spool pamo twines, 100 pieces of rubber floats, 4 kilograms of lead sinker, and one piece of plastic goggles.
Migz asin Cong. Lray Villafuerte ta natawanan kami nin maray na pagkakakitaan sa dagat,” Franco gratefully added.
Last 2019, CamSur PESO went to different municipalities for the profiling of beneficiaries. During the profiling, a total of 334 fishermen have been approved to receive fiberglass boats. Furthermore, the provincial government plans to distribute fiberglass boats and fishing gears in the municipalities of Del Gallego, Sipocot, Minalabac, Pasacao, San Jose, Bato, and Balatan this year.
The distribution of fiberglass boats and fishing gears is part of the provincial government’s livelihood program, since the fishing industry is one of the main sources of livelihood for families residing in the coastal areas of the province.
