Legazpi diocese limits wedding attendees

LEGAZPI CITY--- Attendees during wedding, baptism and mass for the dead will be limited to a maximum of 20 persons and should observe the social distancing protocol, the Diocese of Legazpi said recently

Bishop Joel “Bong” Z. Baylon released the guidelines for church services to be followed for wedding, baptism and services for the dead during the online mass aired over the diocese-run radio station, Radio Veritas of Legazpi.

He said that church services will continue under the following guidelines:

For wedding, the bride and the groom should have been in the Bicol region for at least two weeks and should not have travelled to Manila or any place outside the region in order that the wedding ceremony will be allowed.

No one from the members of the wedding entourage like principal and secondary sponsors, maid of honor, best man, among others has recently been to Manila or any other place outside of the Bicol region identified as positive for Covid-19.

If any of these individuals fall under this category, he or she should not come to the wedding ceremony, because he/she should be under self-quarantine.

Baylon said that the entire wedding entourage, including the photographers and videographers shall not be more than 20 individuals and should observe hygienic and social distancing protocol, which requires a distance of at least one meter from the nearest person.

A similar protocol for the dead will also be observed, wherein only 20 persons including the corpse would be allowed during the church service.

But for baptismal service, only a maximum of five persons are allowed. They are the the parents, a pair of godparents and the child.

The Diocese of Legazpi suspended all masses inside churches on March 13 to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Masses are now being celebrated via online, TV and radio.
