Albay 1st district in total lockdown

LEGAZPI CITY --- The mayors of the towns of Sto. Domingo, Bacacay, Malilipot, Malinao, Tiwi, and Tabaco City, all located in the first district of the province, declared on Saturday, Mar. 28 a total lockdown after a resident was found positive of Covid-19—one of the three cases announced by the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday night that marked the end of Bicol’s lucky streak of surviving without a single virus case since the Luzon-wide quarantine was imposed on Mar. 17.

Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro, Area Development Team (ADT) 1 chair, said the mayors came up with the enforcement mechanism tagged as ECQ level 2 so they could closely monitor the movement of people in their respective areas.

She said they (ADT1) came up with the enforcement mechanism tagged as ECQ II that would closely monitor the movement of people in their respective area, saying “if you want to go to another town you have to seek from the local government a pass that would allow you to leave and enter another town and citing the purpose of your visit.”

L:uistro when asked how does it differ from the national ECQ said the scheme is one step forward as this carried at the barangay level.

A barangay quarnatine pass would be issued to only one member of the family who would be allowed to do errands only within the village, the pass would not be allowed in other villages, “this scheme would allow family members to limit their movements and discourage them to roam around ,” Luistro said.

Other protocols such as the 8-hour curfew would be strictly pursued, this aside from the wearing of masks and physical and social distancing.

The total lockdown under the ECQ II would take effect 12 midnight Sunday, Mar. 29 in the towns of Sto Domingo, Bacacay, Malilipot, Malinao , Tiwi and Tabaco City.
