Caceres takes part in National Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

NAGA CITY --- In response to the call of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the Archdiocese of Caceres took part in the National Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, on Wednesday, 13 May 2020, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.

The Rite was held simultaneously with all other dioceses in the Philippines at exactly 08:30 am. In Caceres, the Consecration was led by Most Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona, OCD, DD, from the Chapel of the Good Shepherd in the Archbishop’s Residence, this City. The recitation of the Holy Rosary and of the Prayer of Pope Francis in the Time of the Covid-19 Pandemic preceded the Act of Consecration.

The said National Consecration is in accordance with CBCP Circular No. 20-26. In 2013, the CBCP approved the yearly National Consecration of to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in preparation for the celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines in 2021. The Consecration is usually held during the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary every June 20. However, due to the sense of urgency brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Consecration is instead held on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.

The Consecration is deemed a chance for us to implore the grace and mercy of the Lord to end the pandemic, and to seek the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the healing and recovery of all those who are infected, and for strength and protection of the front-liners and our fellow citizens.
