Solon calls for vigilance vs Covid-19 dangers

LEGAZPI CITY --- Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co on Tuesday, May 12, has welcomed President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to classify Albay and 18 other areas in the country as “low risk” from Covid-19 infections, but he advised Bicolanos to remain vigilant amidst the dangers posed by the deadly virus.

Co, one of the original proponents for the lifting of strict quarantine measures in areas with zero or only one Covid-19 case, said the President’s decision was an intelligent move backed by science, data and analytics. “Thankfully, we can now restart Albay’s economic engine, which has stalled for the past two months. Getting businesses back on their feet is a difficult but rewarding task,” Co said.

He cautioned, however, against complacency in the fight against Covid-19. “The virus is still very much out there and continues to pose great danger. While we’re excited to reopen the economy and return to normalcy, we must remember to wear masks, practice social distancing where necessary, and always maintain a healthy lifestyle,” he stressed.

Co said that Albay’s classification as a low risk area is welcome but he advised Bicolanos to exercise caution as the region could easily slide back to quarantine if there is a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in Bicol.
