Brother hacks sibling to death in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Camarines Sur --- An older brother hacked to death his younger sibling in Barangay Adiangao here on Thursday, May 14, a report from the municipal police station said.

The police report said brothers Lito and Jeremie Riva hacked each other at about 6:00PM on Thursday because of a personal misunderstanding. The hacking incident resulted in the death of the former, who suffered multiple wounds in the different parts of his body.

A bystander, Gener delos Santos, who tried to pacify the Rivas was rushed to the nearest hospital after he also suffered injuries inflicted by the suspect.

In an interview, Captain Margarito S. Manaog, San Jose police chief, said suspect Jeremie voluntarily surrendered to the police a day after the incident.

Manaog said a criminal case for homicide was filed against the suspect docketed under NPS No. V-10INQ-20E-0429 dated 16 May 2020. A P120,000 bail was recommended for the suspect’s temporary liberty.

The homicide case is now pending before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of San Jose under Criminal Case No. 2020-5612.

Mila Fernandez, Adiangao village chief said that the brothers have a long history of misunderstanding and grudges against each other. Fist fights between the two have repeatedly happened prior to the hacking incident.
