Naga’s Muslims end Ramadan at home

NAGA CITY---“People nowadays do not need to be confused about any religious affairs due to public health security protocols” the caretaker of the city mosque said.

The Muslim community on Sunday, May 24, observed the end of this year’s Ramadan at their residences in compliance with the protocol implemented by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

The IATF prohibits religious gatherings in places under enhanced and general community quarantine to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

This year’s Ramadan began last Apr. 23, where Muslim people fasted in a month based on their religious tradition.

In an interview, Brother Haron, the care taker of the Naga City Masjid, said that they complied with the Covid-19 rules implemented by the national government because the purpose is good.

He said religious activities to symbolize the end of Ramadan was cancelled, instead they ended the month of fasting at their homes.

Haron said God nowadays tests people’s faith thru Covid-19 crisis and only God knows the duration of this challenge.

He said all calamities, including Covid-19, are just tests which God gave on earth.

“All of these are just God’s challenge to us. Nothing is permanent here on earth,” he said.
