Book on Bikol’s foremost environmentalist launched

The book Mother Eagle: Emelina Gagalac Regis was launched last Saturday, September 26, in an open air venue, the Irukan site in Carolina, Naga City.


One component of Irukan is the Emelina G. Regis Sanctuary of Native Trees in honor of Bikol region’s foremost environmentalist.

This book is a product of ‘Irukan’, a long term partnership project on sustainable environmental governance of six groups: Sumaro sa Salog (SULOG), Inc., the Barangay Carolina local government unit, Naga La Suerte, Ateneo de Naga INECAR, Bidibidi Enterprise, and Creative Coconut.Ph. All proceeds of book sales will go to Irukan’s research, education, and the promotion of eco-friendly products and projects.

Mother Eagle contains vignettes and testimonials from Dr. Regis’s family and friends, with blurbs by Fr. Primitivo Viray Jr., SJ, Superior of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus and Judge Elsa A. Mampo. The book is available for P300 at the Ateneo de Naga INECAR, Burns Hall, for only P 300.
