DepEd warns staff to shun illegal drugs

The Department of Education (DepEd) Bicol has warned its teaching and non-teaching personnel to honor their profession and shun all forms of illegal drugs and activities.

This was after a public school teacher was caught with P1.7-million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Nabua town in Camarines Sur on Sept. 29.

Gilbert Sadsad, DepEd Bicol regional director, ordered the school division of Camarines Sur to validate and prepare an incident report on the arrest of a public school teacher.

“We understand that this case will be under the jurisdiction of the criminal court but nonetheless, we will apply our rules on administrative process and act on any administrative complaints that may be filed against him in our office,” Sadsad said .

He said that they would check on the teacher’s workload for the coming school year and take action so that classes and learners would not be affected.

“As DepEd strongly supports the government efforts in the fight against illegal drugs, we will cooperate with the authorities if they need our help relevant to this case,” Sadsad said. (PNA)
