Caceres Cares for Typhoon Victims

Almost half of Caceres Parishes suffered severe damages due to TS Rolly, mostly in Rinconada & Partido areas especially those in the coastlines.

Super Typhoon Rolly left 3 casualties.

A total of 125,023 families in Caceres were affected.

115,078 of them had their houses damaged.

62,294 of which are totally damaged.

Caritas Caceres visits Tambo Buhi Parish with some volunteers distributing foodpacks.

Before, during & after the onslaught of typhoon, 28,000 families were recorded to have evacuated inside the Evacuation Centers while another 12,958 were accommodated in other places outside ECs.

More or less 4,000 of them were taken in by different Parishes/Rel or Church institutions in the Archdiocese. According to Fr. Marc Real, Director of Caceres-Caritas, since the day after the typhoon, Caritas-Caceres teams have visited and given food packs (relief) to 31 Parishes:

In Partido - Sabang, Goa, San Jose, Sangay, Omalo, Maangas, Presentacion, Guijalo, Bikal, Caramoan, Tabgon, San Rafael T, Sibaguan, Gingaroy.

In Rinconada - Ombao, Bula, Tapayas, Payak, Balatan, Santiago, San Juan Bato. Sta. Teresita, Anayan, Tambo, Bato.

In Bay - Calabanga, Tinambac, Cagliliog, Casuray, Bombon, Quipayo, Central - Camaligan, Dugcal, MOP. Some parishes have already organized their Parish Risk Reduction (PADRE) Teams who coordinated w/ Caritas, some of whom have their own Disaster Response: ICP, Tabuco, Baao, Francia, Nabua, Palestina, Buhi.

Initially, Fr. Marc continues, we did some assessment while doing the quick response. We plan to add more sa mas nangangaipong communities. We are receiving support from dioceses, orgs, groups & individuals such as Caritas Manila, Dioceses of Parañaque, Kalookan, Malolos, NASSA, Knights of Columbus (Bulacan), Salesian Sisters, et al.

Thanks too to our very own Frs Rex Hidalgo, Joal Bernales & Bernie Ramirez for their personal initiative & assistance.

With the aids coming in, we plan to extend our support to the affected families not just on relief goods but also on NFI’s (non food items) like sleeping kits & temporary shelter to those whose houses were totally devastated. We hope we could also extend support to some in rebuilding their homes.
