LGU Naga has P10.7 M calamity fund balance

NAGA CITY --- The city government here has P10.7 million remaining calamity fund for the year 2020, the city budget officer said.

Naga’s budget and accounting offices, in a statement, said that the city’s calamity funds have three categories: Local Disaster Risk Management Fund (LDRMF); Trust Fund (TF); and Bayanihan Grant for Cities and Municipalities Fund (BGCMF).

As of Monday, Nov. 23, this year, the LDRMF with a budget of P79.5 million has a balance of P3.7 million. Expenses under the fund amounted to some P75.8 million. These expenses include: welfare goods P36.2 million; trainings, P390,530; repair and maintenance of transportation equipment, P27,176; insurance expenses, P2.7 million; machinery and equipment-disaster rescue equipment P708,000; machinery and equipment- construction & heavy equipment, P25 million; and infrastracture assets-flood control systems, P10.7 million.

The TF with a budget of P 30.2 million has a balance of P7 million. Expenses incurred amounted to P23.2 million for Covid-19, African Swine Fever and typhoons.

As for the BGCMF which has an allocation of P 57.6 million, the city government has already spent the entire amount in building and developing quarantine facilities and other Covid-19 related activities.

In an interview, budget officer Frank Mendoza, said Naga residents need not worry because the city government has a lot of resources in case the calamity fund gets exhausted.

He said that budgets for travelling expenses, trainings, office supplies and other non-essential items will be the first to be realigned as calamity fund, if needed.
