Bicolana wins gold injiu-jitsu at SEA Games

A Bicolana from Pamplona, Camarines Sur, Annie Ramirez, won gold medal in the 62 kg. women’s division of jiu-jitsu at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held last May 14 in Hanoi, Vietnam after defeating Thai Orapa Senatham in the final round of the said division.

Ramirez, in her facebook post, said “the preparations were never easy and there were many challenges that I faced before this fight but everything paid off after this victory.”


She extended her gratitude to all who helped her in achieving the great feat in her career in jiu-jitsu.


Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa City Council passed a resolution on May 16 giving Ramirez, a resident of the city, P50,000 cash incentive and commending her for bringing pride and honor to Muntinlupa City.


Ramirez had already received a gold medal in jiu-jitsu last 2019 SEA games and she is the reigning champion in the 62 kg. women’s division.
