Calabanga plans 2 more Covid-19 isolation bldgs

CALABANGA, Camarines Sur---Two new isolation facilities here will soon rise once the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) releases the support fund under R.A. 11494 or the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act requested by the town’s Sangguniang Bayan (SB).
The local government unit (LGU) requested from the DBM the amount of P30 million for the construction of the two new isolation facilities that can accommodate some 200 Covid-19 patients and their close contacts.
In SB Resolution No. 2020-295, the two buildings that will be designed according to the standards of the Department of Health (DOH) have a maximum capacity of 100 patients/contacts each.
Each building or facility has an estimated cost of P 15 million.
Approved by Mayor Eduardo Severo, the resolution also includes fund request in the amount of P4 million for the procurement of personal protective equipment for front liners and personnel who enforce are involved in Covid-19 response.
Two other requests for funds worth P10.9 million for the provision of food assistance and relief goods for households affected by the pandemic and P9 million for vitamin supplements for residents were also included in the resolution.
During the 33rd SB session, councilor Levi Sta. Ana Jr., said some 5,600 complete sets of PPEs will be procured in the fund is released. Councilor Philip Dumalasa, for his part, has identified the possible location of the two new Covid-19 building outside of the town center.
