Vaccination activities in three government-run hospitals in Sorsogon province have started on Wednesday, Mar. 10 after the hospitals received an initial of 960 single-dose vials of China-made Coronavac on Tuesday, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol said.

Noemi Bron, DOH public affairs chief, said Sorsogon was the third province in the region to receive the vaccines after some 12,000 vials arrived in the region recently.

Bron said the initial vaccine allocation delivered to Sorsogon was intended for government health workers in the hospitals of Sorsogon Provincial Hospital (SPH) with 460 vials, Metro Health Specialist Inc.,(MHSI), 200 vials, and Sorsogon Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative (SMMG) with 300 vials.

The vaccine roll-out was made after the three hospitals completed their vaccine simulation procedures.

Bron said five doctors from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) were the first batch of health workers who were inoculated during the simultaneous vaccine kick-off ceremony on March 10.
