El Verde Youth for climate action

The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur through the Environment, Disaster Management, and Emergency Response Office (EDMERO CAMSUR) initiated the Planning Workshop of the El Verde Youth for Climate Action (EVYCA) on August 20-21, 2023, at the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili.

Twenty-nine (29) EVYCA chapter officials and representatives from the municipalities of Balatan, Tinambac, Milaor, Pasacao, Calabanga, Cabusao, Buhi, San Fernando, Minalabac, Bula, Del Gallego, Goa, Bombon, Ocampo, Garchitorena, Tigaon, San Jose, Libmanan, Lupi, Canaman, Ragay, and Iriga City, and GMVCC Tinambac, Baao Community College, University of Saint Anthony, Calabanga Community College attended the two-day planning workshop where the constitutions and by-laws of the EVYCA was discussed and their S.W.O.C or their Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Challenges in the 4 thematic areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) were assessed.

The primary aim of the activity is to plan out the ways forward for the El Verde Youth, at the same time to forge, equip, and capacitate them as an arm of the Provincial Government not only in the protection and rehabilitation of the environment but also in disaster response.

With the staunch support of the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur headed by the visionary and action-oriented Governor Luigi Villafuerte, the El Verde Youth for Climate Action is set to conduct a series of activities that will bring forth positive change to every community. pgomultimedia
