FEU football player, cousin died in Masbate bomb blast

A former football player of Far Eastern University (FEU) and his cousin while riding bicycles were killed and another was wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) believed planted by the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels suddenly exploded at around 6:45 AM on Monday, June 7 in Purok 4, Barangay Anas, Masbate City, a police report said.


Those killed were identified as ex-FEU football player Keith Absalon, 21, and his cousin Nolven Absalon, 40, who died due to shrapnel wounds.


Chrisbin Daniel Absalon, 16, son of Nolven, who was also wounded was immediately brought to the nearby city hospital for treatment.


The police said they quickly responded when they received a phone call about the explosion that killed civilians.


The police said they already dispatched teams to track the whereabouts of the suspected rebels.
