Gawad Kilyab Lights Up 2022

As the year comes to a close, I cannot reflect on how wonderful this year has been without reminiscing about the 1st Gawad Kilyab that illuminates 2022. As the University of Nueva Caceres welcomes its great, grand, and glorious Diamond Jubilee come 2023, the UNC School of Graduate Studies and the College of Teacher Education join hands to set the stage and shine a spotlight fit for the genuine pride of Bicolandia. This is through UNC’s 1st Gawad Kilyab 2022, a Regional Search for Outstanding Educators in Bicol.

Spearheading the Search Season

Under one mighty roof of the lovely hall of Royale Emelina, the best and the finest educators of Bicol come together. Spearheading the celebration of educators and launching this search was a circle of community change agents: Dr. Gilbert Sadsad, Regional Director, Department of Education, Region 5; Dr. Fay Lea Patria M. Lauraya, President, University of Nueva Caceres; Dr. Romeo M. Sumayo Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of School of Graduate Studies and College of Teacher Education; Prof. Michel P. Basister, Assistant Dean, School of Graduate Studies and College of Teacher Education, and the Executive Director of Gawad Kilyab.

Shining the Spotlight on Selfless Service

Gawad Kilyab is the special platform to exalt the shining examples of our selfless teachers that will edify the community of educators and inspire the next generation of teachers. The UNC School of Graduate Studies and College of Teacher Education subscribe to the conviction that teachers carry the torch that lights the way for today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders. Professionals in the academe and education industry immensely contribute to character formation, economic and social progress, nation-building, and global citizenship.

As the Bicol Regional Search for Outstanding Educators, Gawad Kilyab is a prestigious award-giving body that honors the heroism of our educators and exalts the nobility of the teaching profession.
