Robredo’s new podcast aims to reach the youth
By Mavic Conde
Vice President Leni Robredo has her own podcast now. Launched on Aug. 23, The Leni Robredo Podcast is a response to requests from the youth themselves.
There have been requests, including from our staff who are very young, Robredo said in the first episode which was aired via Spotify.
Robredo wanted her podcast to be a “safe space” where listeners can “relax,” as she and her guest personalities talk about shared experiences.
Bianca Gonzalez, her first podcast guest, has similar career experience with Robredo’s. They both didn’t dream of their respective jobs, but their faith has greatly influenced their decisions.
I want to share with young people that “it’s okay not to follow the playbook. It’s okay to chart your own course [and trust your faith],” Robredo said. Likewise, Gonzalez said “a large part of all my decisions have been anchored on faith.”
Robredo elaborated that while she doesn’t like politics, her being a public servant even as a lawyer before in Bicol makes the two not mutually exclusive.
Robredo still has to decide on her presidential candidacy, which she said she was open to. For now, she said she wants to focus on pandemic response, on the livelihood program of the Office of the VP, and on extending her reach by listening more.
“Kaya halika, magkuwentuhan tayo,” her podcast teaser said.
