The Social Security System (SSS) Camarines Sur office joined the conduct of Virtual Pensioners’ Day on Aug. 25 as its way of sending its gratitude to all the pensioners for all their contributions to the economy when they were still working.
The activity was simultaneously conducted in all SSS branches in the country via Microsoft Teams platform from 10:00 to 11:45 AM.
SSS Bicol Regional Communications Officer Quennie Joy S. Agsao said that the nationwide Virtual Pensioners’ Day was done in all of their 176 branches nationwide to “recognize the pivotal role that the pensioners played in the society.”
“This was SSS’s way of saying thank you to our pensioners. Only qualified to join were the SSS retiree-pensioners, and not the surviving spouse or disability pensioners. A talk on health and wellness was also conducted, as well as lecture on how to use online platforms and SSS Pension Loan Program (PLP),” Agsao said.
A representative from Union Bank of the Philippines gave lecture on how to use the online platform. This helped the pensioners adapt to the “new normal” and lessened their chances to get infected with the Covid-19 virus if they are going to physically transact in banks.
There were also testimonies from pensioners who have already availed of the PLP. An open forum was also conducted after the talk where questions from the participants were answered.
Agsao said that raffle prizes were also given to the participants.
In a press statement, SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora Ignacio said that each SSS branch expected around 150 to 200 retiree-pensioners to join the virtual event.
“We want our pensioners to learn how to use My.SSS since we are pushing to make all our transactions available online. With the help of My.SSS, they can have a safe and convenient way of transacting with us, at the comfort of their homes,” Ignacio added. (PIA5/Camarines Sur)
