University, artist group hold literary tradition workshop

The Sorsogon State University College of Teacher Education and Midwifery in partnership with Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and Concerned Artists of the Philippines Bicol Chapter (CAP Bicol) conducted a free workshop on Promoting Sorsogon’s Literary Traditions through the Children’s Theater from May 4-5, 2023.

With Prof. Marigrace Carretero and Prof. Anabell Manga as the speakers, the two-day workshop was participated in by elementary teachers in the DepEd City and Province Divisions of Sorsogon.

Held at the Sorsogon State University Dormtel, the workshop participants were taught various strategies in using children’s theater in teaching and learning.

The project proponents of the said workshop were the SorSU project CHILD team, Mr. Allan Abrigo of Kurit-Lagting, and Mr. Joseph Bausa of CAP Bicol under the direction of Mr. Choi Carretero, Kurit-Lagting’s co-founder.

The workshop is a product of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Sorsogon State University (SorSU) and Kurit-Lagting and the CAP Bicol last April 04, 2023, for a shared partnership and collaboration in the implementation of PROJECT CHILD (CHampioning Inclusion for Learners with Disabilities): A workshop series for Teacher Educators in the Province of Sorsogon which aims to bring awareness on learning disability, inclusive education, and culture and art education.
