1,300 Bicolano families receive gov’t cash aid

AFTER receiving various government assistance due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic and the series of tpyhoons, some 1,300 Bicolano families have also received additional P15,000 each from the P20-million budget set aside by Ako Bicol Partylist (AKB) through the Sustainable Livelihood Development Program (SLDP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).


AKB Rep. Alfredo “Pido” Garbin said that the AKB through the DSWD has allocated already P20 million to finance the SLD program in Bicol.


“We are targeting around 1,300 beneficiary families and barangay communities who will receive P15,000 each to be used in financing their micro business enterprises so that they could increase their daily income to gain better living condition”, he said.


SLDP is a DSWD capability building program for poor, vulnerable and marginalized households to improve their socio-economic condition through livelihood activities in the communities.


During the AKB partylist’s latest livelihood sorties, Garbin said that he and Rep. Elizaldy Co had also distributed tool kits.


Welding machines, stethoscope including thermometer, face towels, facemasks and scrubs were also handed to the 170 newly graduated scholar students of Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to be used for their daily livelihood activities.
