LEGAZPI CITY --- The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) on Wednesday announced a scheduled 12-hour power interruption affecting several towns in Albay.

Joyce Balancio, NGCP’s lead specialist for government relations and regional affairs, said the outage will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

The interruption is due to maintenance activities at the Daraga and Sto. Domingo substations, as well as along the Daraga - Sto. Domingo 69 kilovolt (kV) line.

Balancio noted that specific affected areas would be determined by the Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco).

Aleco public information officer Anj Galero confirmed that the power outage would impact the entire Sto. Domingo area and the island barangays of Bacacay, Malilipot, and Tabaco City.

Galero added that Aleco would also be carrying out parallel activities during the schedule, including extensive line clearing, load transfers from another substation, and the relocation of line reclosers.

“The circuits from some areas under the Sta. Mesirecordia substation will be connected to the Salvacion substation. This means that once the load transfer is completed, there will be fewer interruptions in the central barangays because they will not be overloaded,” she said in an interview.

Galero reminded the public to always consider that all distribution lines are energized. (PNA)
