2 dead, 1 injured in Pamplona road mishap

PAMPLONA, Camarines Sur --- Two people were killed and one was injured in a three-vehicle collision that occurred along Maharlika Highway, Zone 5, Barangay San Gabriel, Pamplona, Camarines Sur, at around 12:30 PM on Tuesday, June 3.
According to an initial police report, the incident involved a northbound Hyundai S100 (Vehicle 1) with plate number ECR 3930, driven by a certain Larry, a married resident of San Fernando, Camarines Sur.
While en route from Naga City to Del Rosario, Pamplona, the Hyundai collided head-on with a southbound Mini Truck (Vehicle 2) bearing plate number NAA 4989. The truck had reportedly encroached on the opposite lane.
The collision was followed by a rear-end crash involving an Isuzu Jitney (Vehicle 3) with plate number EVM 664, which was tailing the Hyundai. The jitney was driven by Loreto, also a married resident of San Fernando, Camarines Sur, who emerged unscathed.
The Mini Truck driver, identified as Jomer, a company driver from Santiago, Pili, Camarines Sur, died on the spot. His passenger, Roden, a resident of Naga City, succumbed to injuries while undergoing medical treatment. Larry, the driver of the Hyundai, sustained injuries and was immediately given medical attention.
Personnel from the Pamplona Municipal Police Station, led by PSMS Hector C. Cedeño and PCPL Jayson B. Arimado, promptly responded to the scene to assist the victims and conduct an investigation.
All three vehicles sustained structural damages of still undetermined value and are currently under police custody.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine liability and prevent similar incidents.
In an interview about road accidents, Police Col. Virgilio O. Olalia Jr., Provincial Director of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, reminds motorists and drivers to observe traffic rules and regulations, get enough sleep before driving long distances, and overtake only when the road ahead is clear, to avoid vehicular accidents such as this one.
