Buy bust yields P150K worth shabu

By Jorge Hallare LEGAZPI CITY --- Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a notorious personality in the illegal drug trade in this city who yielded P150,000 worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) during a buy bust operation conducted at the city bus terminal Tuesday (Feb. 28) morning. Enrique Lucero, acting provincial officer of PDEA-Albay and Catanduanes, said the suspect identified as Jeff Borromeo was arrested for possession of shabu that were placed inside 10 transparent plastic sachets, each sachet weighing 5 grams, at 11:50 a.m. in the vicinity of the Legazpi City Grand Terminal along Tahao Road. Lucero said the Legazpi City Police Office headed by Supt. Nilo Berdin helped mount the buy bust operation against Borromeo, a resident of Barangay Sabang in this city. According to Lucero, Borromeo’s arrest is a big blow to the latter’s group that is supplying shabu to barangays, particularly those surrounding the central business district. “The suspect will be presented to PDEA Director General Isidro Lapeña who is expected to visit the PDEA regional office inside Camp Gen. Simeon Ola tomorrow (March 1),” said Lucero. He did not give any other details on Lapeña’s visit.
