New DPWH Bicol RD says team work is key
By Connie B. Destura LEGAZPI CITY --- The new regional director of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Bicol, Danilo E. Versola, said his wish is to foster teamwork in the agency that he now heads after his predecessor Reynaldo G. Tagudando was given a new assignment at the DPWH central office. “I want us to work together to deliver the best in infrastructure service for the Bicolanos,” Versola underscored during the turnover ceremony held at DPWH Regional Office in Barangay Rawis in this city March 9, last week. Tagudando, who was only recently appointed to DPWH-Bicol by President Rodrigo Duterte, is now the Director of the Bureau of Research and Standards at the DPWH central office in Manila. Tagudando had served DPWH-Bicol for almost two years. To his credit, he helped the agency become an ISO 9001:2008 certified regional office. Versola, in an interview, said there is a mountain of challenges to face. Unfazed, he said he holds high the value of teamwork with each team player dedicated to the goal of the whole organization, which is DPWH-Bicol. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,” he said, quoting one of Helen Keller’s famous quotes. Versola was previously assigned at the Caraga region where he served as DPWH regional director for nearly seven years. He has 39 years of government service and rose from the ranks before his current position. In 1979, he was awarded as the “most effective employee” and in 1984 became a “model employee.” He acquired his Civil Executive Service Officer status in 2002. Key officials of DPWH-Bicol said they look forward to having “good if not perfect working relations with our new regional director.”
