SSC chair Valdez keynotes 16th national convention of lawyers
Social Security Commission Chairman (SSC) Dean Amado D. Valdez (top photo) stressed the importance of paradigm shift to provide SSS with greater income opportunities which will also translate to the economic power of the working class who owns the pension fund. He stressed this during the recent Integrated Bar of the Philippines’ (IBP) 16th National Convention of Lawyers held last March 25 in Pasay City. In his speech, the SSC Chair also revealed the plan to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between SSS and IBP for mandatory social security coverage of lawyers to “so as not to jeopardize their future for lack of foresight in planning for retirement and other contingencies,” he said. Dean Valdez also emphasized the true essence of continuing legal education among lawyers, foremost of which is to identify innovative trends in legal philosophy and to be catalysts of social change.
