Agriculturists to hold 5th national congress

NAGA CITY --- The Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA) will be holding its 5th National Congress and 2017 Philippine Agriculturists Summit on July 17, 2017 at Villa Caceres Hotel here in Naga City. The PAA is the nation’s accredited professional organization for the agriculture sector. PAA Vice President and Convention Chair Rosalina M. Lapitan said the summit will provide its members the venue to discuss issues and updates on the agriculture profession, as well as crosscutting technologies on resilience and sustainability to increase food security, competitiveness, and product safety in the light of ASEAN regional integration. He added this will also give them opportunity to share research findings and best practices where the academe and the local government units join hands in extending the knowledge learned to farmers and stakeholders in the agriculture sector. This year’s theme is: “Enhancing the agriculture profession towards a resilient and sustainable agriculture in the global community.” The summit will also witness the launching of new chapters and the first oath-taking of licensed agriculturists outside Metro Manila. Naga City Mayor John G. Bongat will give the welcome remarks when the summit starts at 9:00 a.m. of the opening day. Incidentally, this city has been recipient of last year’s Quality Corn Achievers Award in the outstanding city category, with some of its personnel at the city agriculture office having been hailed as outstanding corn coordinator and agriculture extension workers (AEW), namely Engr. Menandro Calingacion and Bendicto Heraldo, respectively.
