Police: 16 barangays in Naga are drug-free now


By Paulo DS. Papa NAGA CITY--- Out of the 27 barangays in this city, at least 16 as of date have been cleared by the police as “drug-free.” PC Insp. Venerando F. Ramirez identified the “drug-free” barangays as Abella, Bagumbayan Sur, Bagumbayan Norte, Balatas, Cararayan, Calauag, Concepcion Pequeña, Liboton, Lerma, Mabolo, Peñafrancia, Sta. Cruz, San Felipe, and Dinaga. The Naga City Police Office said this positive development has been achieved thru continuous anti-illegal drug operations that have been made possible with the cooperation and coordination with the Regional and City Drug Enforcement Units, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), City Public Safety Office (CPSO), Department of Justice (DOJ), the media and the city and barangay officials. Meanwhile, two more drug suspects feel after a buy-bust operation last Sunday (May 7) evening in Zone 1, Barangay Del Rosario here. Suspects Wilbert Tolosa y Baloro and Luis Tron y Zaens were collared after handing out a small heat-sealed plastic sachet of shabu (metamphetamine hydrochloride) to undercover PO1 Ryan D. Rebellion of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) who posed as buyer. Recovered from the suspects were a digital weighing scale, two cellular phones, notebook, two black pouches containing aluminum foils, plastic totter, scissor, one pack of transparent plastics, two large transparent plastics of shabu, and a wallet containing P1,500. The arresting team was composed of elements from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 5 (RPDEU 5), CDEU, Naga City Police Station 2 Drug Enforcement Unit (PS2DEU), and PDEA Camarines Sur. Early in the month of March, this year, a total of 48 drug suspects were arrested, and 6 drug users surrendered.
